ABOUT SCOTT BERGSTEIN

After thirty years of life in the world of commercial real estate, Scott executed his escape plan. (Some call it “retirement.”) He and his wife Jessica Coup had bought a little olive farm in the Puglia region of Italy and spent two years renovating it. The adventure made for good stories so Scott wrote a blog that he dubbed “Soul of the Heel,” the reference being to Puglia as it was known as the heel of the boot that is Italy. The response to the blog prompted him to write a memoir of the same title. With the publication of “Soul of the Heel: A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Puglia,” Scott was propelled from a relatively unknown writer to a just-a-little-less-than-unknown writer.

Enlightenment followed upon which event Scott realized that olive farming is very hard work, so Scott and Jessica packed up and moved to Southeast Asia, specifically, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Meanwhile, Jessica had turned her prodigious talents to the art of photography. Together, they produced stories of their travels with emphasis on the humorous aspects of exposure to other cultures.

The couple now lives in the town of Ubud on the island of Bali where Jessica practices her other passion of yoga and Scott keeps writing stuff.
